SY24-25 Arts Education PD Collaborators
The Arts Education Professional Development Collaborators is an initiative aimed at enriching CPS educators’ and arts partners’ professional growth by elevating a diverse array of specialized arts education PD opportunities.
These include workshops, seminars, and immersive experiences across visual arts, music, literary art, theater, and dance. Programs can range from brief, intensive sessions to extended, in-depth courses, ensuring flexibility to accommodate educators and partners at different stages of their careers. Your participation will serve as a vital bridge between the arts community and educators, fostering meaningful connections that enhance teaching effectiveness and student engagement.

The Ryan Learning Center
Professional Learning grounded in student-centered, dialogic, inquiry-based, and multi-modal pedagogy with a focus on literacy and the close-reading of images.

Providing Healing Centered Engagement (HCE) offerings and ongoing professional learning around curriculum development, introduction and certification in HCE, and instructional adaptation to support migrant students.

Dance-focused in discipline for Trauma Informed Learning, Healing Centered Engagement, Making the best TA/School Match, and Bridging the Gap: Building a Better Community for Teaching Artists and Students delivered in person or virtually.

Idea Box
Introducing educators to student-safe crafting tools for project making, adaptable maker/performance curricula, and arts-based methods for their classrooms.

International Children's Media Center
ICMC’s media arts workshops are designed to help parents and teachers accelerate student learning and combat the negative effects of children's screen use. This proven pedagogy teaches two approaches: (1) Fast, fun brain-body exercises and creative activities that strengthen students’ focus and self-regulation; (2) Close analysis of media texts to build students’ literacy skills, empathy and higher order thinking.

Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art
Professional development sessions include academic lectures, artist-led workshops, tours of self-taught art collections, work time and field trips to museums, galleries and artist studios. Teacher Fellows serve as an advisory council for Intuit as the museum develops resources (e.g., videos, field trips, materials, etc.) for students.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company - Education & Engagement Department
All participating high school classroom teachers and Steppenwolf teaching artists receive free and extensive professional development opportunities, logging between 15–50 hours of training with Steppenwolf Education & Engagement annually - all available for Continuing Professional Development Units (CPDU

Native Award-winning musician, composer, and celebrated historian, John Arnold, will share Toboggan and “Trinibago” songs and history from the island nation in an interactive workshop. Providing timely high value resources to ideate and create engaging curriculum and foster responsive youth and personal development in the classroom, MCAC is focused on sharing resources and providing workshops led by artists, cultural leaders, activists, and wellness practitioners that give teachers toolkits to manage their personal development, mental health, and capacity.
