Data Snapshot: Arts Partnerships - Before and After the Pandemic explores the challenges that were faced by arts partners during the COVID-19 pandemic school years. It details what the common characteristics were among arts organizations that had school partners in 2018-19 but no longer in 2020-21, while also exploring such data as whether partners served fewer or more schools, what artistic disciplines they provided, and how we can use this data to build back partnership numbers.

We are pleased to share the 2019-20 State of the Arts Report (SOTA). This eighth annual edition presents data that tracks student access to arts education in Chicago Public Schools (CPS) while also identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for growth. Read the report now.

We know many partners have questions about the return to in-school programs. We've worked with the CPS Department of Arts Ed to create this living document that responds to partner-submitted questions!

This animated image shows the specific arts programs reported by schools in the 2018-19 school year. Programs are organized by discipline (dance, literary arts, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts). These maps reveal that while many programs (e.g. creative writing, vocal choir) are widely distributed across the city, others – such as folkloric dance, improv, and web development – are localized to more specific regions.
