ACEs, Trauma, and Trauma Informed Care 101: Integrating Resilience Building Practices Into Arts Ed
Presented by Madison Hammett MPH, MSW, Policy Analyst, Illinois ACEs Response Collaborative
Join Ingenuity and the Illinois ACEs Response Collaborative in this first session of a 3-part series. The session will cover the ACEs study, which highlights the link between childhood trauma and adverse health outcomes in adulthood, such as heart disease and cancer. Additionally, it will discuss how trauma may manifest on many levels, including historically and structurally, and how this can impact the health of individuals and communities. Participants will then learn what they can do to promote resilience, recovery, and thriving individuals and communities within their work, and the role art in particular plays in addressing and preventing the effects of trauma.
