What a wonderful evening at Ingenuity’s annual event, Tapestry: Weaving Equity for Arts Education, at the Four Seasons Chicago on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. We are still buzzing with the energy from the night, which was a delightful blend of exceptional performances, fostering meaningful connections within the arts community, and a shared commitment to bolstering arts education in Chicago Public Schools.
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we have raised an impressive $542,351! These funds will serve as a cornerstone in our mission to ensure that every student, regardless of grade or school, within the Chicago Public Schools system, has equitable access to arts education as an essential component of their comprehensive learning journey.
A highlight of the evening was honoring Lollapalooza for their remarkable commitment of $2.2M to support students in Chicago. Through the Lollapalooza Arts Education Fund, administered by Ingenuity’s grants program, over 100,000 students are benefiting from quality arts education opportunities.
To commemorate this partnership, we showcased a captivating video that highlighted Lollapalooza’s dedication to enriching the lives of Chicago’s youth through the arts:
In addition to celebrating Lollapalooza’s contribution, we recognized Urban Gateways with the Equity in Arts Education Award. With a legacy spanning over 60 years, Urban Gateways has been instrumental in providing young people with the tools and opportunities to explore various art forms, including dance, literary and media arts, music, and theater.
Throughout the evening, attendees were treated to inspiring performances by talented students from the Gary Comer College Prep Middle School and Washington Irving Elementary School All-Star Band with Guitars Over Guns, Amundsen High School representing The Chicago Poetry Center, and Mollison Elementary School with Old Town School of Folk Music. Their performances served as a testament to the transformative power of arts education in shaping young minds and fostering creativity.
The event on May 1st was another powerful reminder of what can be achieved when we come together with a shared purpose. Ingenuity looks forward to harnessing the energy and momentum generated at Tapestry 2024 as we continue our collaborative efforts to make a lasting impact on the lives of Chicago’s students!
