Manager, Data Strategy & Products
As Ingenuity’s Data Strategy & Products Manager, Tom leverages data and information to provide insights for Ingenuity’s core program areas and to inform sector-wide strategies for increasing arts education access, quality and equity in Chicago Public Schools.
He also drives the continuous development of artlook®, Ingenuity’s data collection and dissemination system, and manages the annual Creative Schools Survey, through which Ingenuity collects data from over 600 CPS schools each year.
A strong advocate of sector-wide knowledge sharing, Tom has presented at Do Good Data, the AEP National Forum, the Chicago City Data Users Group, and the International Conference on Social Theory, Politics, and the Arts. He was also interviewed on an episode of Microsoft’s Big Shoulders webcast, which features civic tech leaders in Chicago.
Tom holds an MPA and MA from Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs, where he studied arts administration, nonprofit management, and public policy analysis. While at IU, Tom was a Research and Teaching Assistant for Joanna Woronkowicz, PhD, and assisted on a number of applied and academic research projects, including Setting the Stage for Community Change: Reflecting on Creative Placemaking Outcomes (Levitt Foundation). He also holds a BA in Music from Truman State University, where he was a member of the Wind Symphony, Jazz Ensemble, and a saxophone quartet.
