Data Snapshot: Arts Partnerships - Before and After the Pandemic explores the challenges that were faced by arts partners during the COVID-19 pandemic school years. It details what the common characteristics were among arts organizations that had school partners in 2018-19 but no longer in 2020-21, while also exploring such data as whether partners served fewer or more schools, what artistic disciplines they provided, and how we can use this data to build back partnership numbers.

Forward Momentum Chicago

Grant Amount: 10,000

Laura Ward is a STEM school. This year, we have secured a full-time music teacher whose focus is to incorporate the arts so Ward can become a STEAM school. Through interdisciplinary studies, students will explore dance and music in connection with core content areas such as literacy and mathematics. Students will participate in unit studies in their classrooms, increase social-emotional (and collaboration) skills, learn dance styles/techniques via instruction from external partners, and participate in field experiences that align to music, dance, and visual arts. The ultimate goal is to promote understanding of diverse dance styles and present a performance to the school community. Ward intends to partner with Forward Momentum to make this dream a reality.
